About

The Engineering Research Centre of Safety and Protection of Explosion & Impact was established in 2019 under the support of the Ministry of Education of China. It is built to spearhead research efforts in developing advanced protective technology, provide scientific and engineering solutions to meet the national needs and address emerging national challenges in the field of protective technology. The center consists of one indoor impact test laboratory in Jiulonghu campus and two field explosion test bases in Liyang District of Nanjing and Xuyi City of Jiangsu Providence, respectively.

Mission

Advance understand of relevant physical and chemical processes of solid objects subjected to high strain rate (impact & explosion) that results in rapidly induced motion and deformation.

Simulate (analytically and numerically) the observed and measured physical phenomena surrounding such short lasting events caused by impact or by explosion.

Develop and provide corresponding engineering design tools which could be equally well used in engineering design as well as in materials engineering. 

Explosion & Impact Testing Base

Strategic cooperation agreements have been signed with the local government of Xuyi City and Liyang district of Nanjing. A total of 600 acres of land was granted for field explosion & impact test.
