Aim and Scope

The summer school is the earliest in the field of civil engineering held by Chinese universities, and the only completely public welfare academic exchange platform in China that has been continuously maintained for ten years. It has become a famous brand in the area. The summer school, combined with the lecture series, invites academicians of the two academies, and leading experts at home and abroad. It has effectively promoted the reform and development of postgraduate education and create an innovative atmosphere for postgraduates. The lectures enable postgraduates to better understand the research direction and frontiers of in this discipline globally. The summer school is open to outstanding postgraduate students in the field of civil engineering and undergraduate students who intend to be exempted or plan to apply for our university. 

Lectures on academic literacy and scientific research methods will be given, which are divided into five topics: structure and disaster prevention, bridges, geotechnical, engineering management, and mechanics. Through the summer school, the students will have the opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge technologies and state-of-the-art research from the top experts and scholars around the world.

During the summer school, undergraduate students will undergo a rigorous comprehensive quality assessment. Students who pass the attendance and examination of the summer school are awarded the graduation certificate of the National Graduate Summer School printed by China Civil Engineering Society. The outstanding undergraduate students are qualified to be exempted from the entrance examination for master's degree in their schools and can be admitted to our university.  

Brief history of the summer school

The summer school has been held since 2010 for ten times so far. In the previous summer schools, the students have been in close contact with the experts, by attending lecture series and visiting key projects at national level. A total of 30 academicians and nearly 200 famous experts and scholars from home and abroad have given lectures. More than 2,000 postgraduates and undergraduates from more than 80 double first-class, 985 project and 211 project universities in China have attended the summer school and received the certificates.
