Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is America's oldest national engineering society. It represents more than 133,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide. Southeast University Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-ISG-SEU) was approved to become a full member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) on May 19, 2020. ASCE-ISG-SEU was established in 2015 with the help of Prof. Jingquan Wang and Prof. Zhongguo John Ma from the University of Tennessee, and has been invited by the University of Tennessee, University of California at Berkeley, University of Memphis, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, University of Central Florida and other universities and organizers to participate in the ASCE Student Conferences. SCE recognition of SEU Student Chaper
This event is a long-established and the highest level civil engineering student competition in the United States, including Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, GeoWall, Professional Paper, and other 10 events. There are more than 10 major and minor events. In 2017, our school first team participated in the steel bridge competition, and won three individual awards, including first place in stiffness, second place in efficiency, and third place in weight. 2018 and 2019, we won second place (second place) in the environmental competition and second place in the paper competition, respectively. The instructing team teachers who contributed to the guidance of the relevant competitions include: Wang Jingquan, Tong Xiaodong, Lu Jinyu, He Zhiqi, Miao Zhiwei, Sun Zeyang, Yao Yiming, Xu Zhao, Deng Wenni, Tong Teng, Xu Yan, Tan Chaoqun, Yang Xiaoli, Huang Juan, Tian Longgang, He Lei, Zhang Chinese, Wang Yanhua, etc. Among them, Light Boat's concrete materials, etc. also received strong support from teachers such as She Wei from the School of Materials.

During the years of participation, the Southeast University Chapter has maintained continuous contact with ASCE USA headquarters and the Greater China Chapter, participated in the annual ASCE-ISG China Regional Exchange Conference for many times, and strengthened the communication with sister universities such as Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Hohai University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Dalian University of Technology, Chongqing University and China University of Mining and Technology. We also organized and carried out related activities on the campus of Southeast University, which increased the visibility and expanded the influence of the East University Chapter and laid a good foundation for the East University Chapter to become an official international student chapter approved and recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
