On-site traning and experiences of undergraduate students
In the sophomore and junior years, there are short-term workshops for each major, allowing students to better understand what they learned in the previous year. In the senior year, internship experiences are required for all students before the graduation design. Take Civil Engineering as an example. Students will have cognition practice, practice of geology, and computer integrated curriculum design in the short-term workshop of the sophomore year. All three activities are organized by SCE. In their junior year, the surveying practice and design of architecture and planning are arranged. The surveying practice is conducted on the campus with the Balance Level and Total-station instruments. A design of office or industrial building is conducted in the design of architecture and planning. In the senior year, a design practice is arranged with selections from many topics. The topics include steel or reinforced concrete frame building, steel or reinforced concrete one-floor industrial building, steel or reinforced concrete floor plate; girder bridge and arch bridge, and underground structure. The students are also required to have a one-month production internship in the summer vacation before the senior year semester. The internship can be in a real estate or construction company.

On-site experiences

Internship of undergraduate students
In the normal semesters, experimental courses or virtual simulation tests are arranged for the corresponding courses in each major. SCE is equipped with abundant teaching facilities. For example, components are made for the bending tests of steel or reinforced concrete beams. The tests are required to be done by students themselves in groups. There are also many individual experiments for students, such as the free vibration of the cantilever beam. Typical experimental teaching facilities are shown in Fig. 2-8(a). Apart from experimental teaching, there are many virtual simulation test software designed by the faculty members in SCE to facilitate the students' understanding of knowledge in ordinary classes. For example, Fig. 2-8(b) presents the virtual simulation test platforms of tension and compression test of components and explosion resistance design of reinforced concrete columns.

Following the elaborate education scheme, the students in SCE are expected to be leading lights in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Mechanics, and Water Engineering after graduation.
